Instagram just launched its 2022 Review of the Year feature and here’s how to make it.
The social media app always releases year-end feature which allows you to look back at your best memories from the past 12 months.
Last year, it was named 2021 Playback, and Instagram automatically took a look at your top stories and feed posts from the year.
However, it’s been significantly revamped and is now called a 2022 recap – and the feature is very different from last year’s.
Instead of creating the Year In Review for you, you now have to create your own. Read on to find out how to do that…
What is your 2022 summary profile?
2022 Recap Reel is a short do-it-yourself video clip within the Instagram app to show your highlights in 2022.
“It’s the moments, big and small, that make a year unforgettable,” Instagram says. Celebrate your year with our 2022 templates.
There are four different templates to choose from, each narrated by a different celebrity including Bad Bunny, DJ Khaled, Priah Ferguson, and Badshah.
Each narrative has a different text and you can choose the one that best suits your year. Then you enter your clips.
At the end, it produces a short video containing 15 of your best memories from 2022 that you can share on social media.
How do you see your public Instagram in review 2022
Open the Instagram app and a banner will appear at the top that says “Create a 2022 recap”. Simply click “Get Started” to create your profile.
If it’s not there, you can go to the Reels section instead and select one of the recap templates to create your 2022 reel.
Press + and select Reel. Next, find the 2022 Recap Reel template you want to use and create your own. Find out how below.

Once you’ve identified the feature, choose the model that best fits your year. Your celebrity narration should match the passages you enter.
For example, DJ Khaled talks about beauty, living in the moment, wildness, having fun with friends, and always appreciating the little things.
Stranger Things star Priah Ferguson’s template discusses the year’s ups and downs before revealing your highlight.
After making your selection, you will need to enter 15 short clips from your camera roll. You can add both photos and videos to the highlight reel.
Then hit “Next” and edit your video. Now, you can post them to your feed, story, or save them to your camera roll!
