The high prices of some major coffee shops have always been in question. While many people don’t find the beverage worth its price tag, a larger section of society absolutely loves it. However, an Oklahoma couple claimed they were charged significantly more than usual for a normal coffee order. The couple ended up paying more than $4,000 (roughly Rs. 3,30,192) for just two cups of coffee at their local Starbucks. Their order usually comes to about $10 (roughly 825 rupees).
As per the WSMV4 report, Jessie and Didi Odell billed $4,456.27 (Rs. 3,67,847 approx) on January 7. But, the couple was not aware of it. Days later, when Didi was at the mall with her kids and tried to make a purchase using the same card, the request was denied. Then, the couple learns that they were charged an exorbitant price for coffee by Starbucks for their coffee order.

Jesse revealed that despite contacting customer service for the coffee shop chain several times, they had not received a refund. Jesse said, “We called the (Starbucks) customer service helpline probably 30 to 40 times that day. We got a call from a representative who said he was sending new checks. But as of today, we still haven’t received the checks.” The couple also filed a report with the Tulsa Police Department.
The situation got so bad that the couple was forced to cancel their scheduled family vacation. Jess was quoted as saying, “This is something that has caused distress in our family, and we hope other people don’t have to go through something like this.”
The report added that Starbucks attributed the accident to possible human error. As per the latest update, the company has handed the couple a compensation amount in two separate cheques.
